Scheduled for completion in late 2021, Atrium Health Pineville’s 236,000-square-foot addition will provide more acute care services and technologies. Additions include an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) machine, maternal fetal medicine, an epilepsy monitoring unit, a 12-bed observation unit and a cardiothoracic robotic surgery. Other floors of the new structure will allow for future expansion. Atrium Health Pineville has been recognized among IBM Watson’s Top 50 cardiovascular hospitals.

Smart construction methodology: Using modular panels with PermaBASE^® Cement Board rather than the traditional cement bed method over exterior glass mat sheathing helped to reduce labor costs and abbreviate the construction schedule. According to Tony Fuller, PermaBASE product manager, typically the contractor would use a more time-consuming method to adhere thin brick to the wall panel. With PermaBASE, Jersey Panel was able to screw cement board directly to the surface of the panel, treating the joint and almost immediately adhering thin brick to it.
